Putting steps in place to try to avoid data breaches.
Responding to privacy concerns promptly.
Deleting personal information as soon as we no longer need it.
Staying updated on privacy law developments and conducting regular privacy audits.
Ways we collect personal information 

We collect personal information through a variety of means to carry out our work. Below are the main ways we do this:

Donors: When people make donations, they provide basic information including their contact details and payment information.

Email lists: When people subscribe to receive our email newsletters or updates, we collect their name and email address.

Inquiries or advice requests: When people contact us for information, advice, or support.

Resource orders: When people order resources from our website, we collect basic contact information. 

Website interactions: Data collected through interactions with our websites, such as filling out forms or using our services.

Third-party services: We use some third party services and tools to collect personal information - for example our donations platform Raisely and our resource ordering system Shopify.

Information collected is used for specific purposes, including but not limited to:

Providing services, advice and resources.
Seeking and managing donations.
Engaging with volunteers and community events.
Responding to communications and feedback.
Processing employment applications.
Billing and collecting payments.
Conducting research and statistical analysis (anonymised where possible).
Complying with health and safety policies.

Drug checking


NZ Drug Foundation is a licenced drug checking service provider. This is a free, legal and completely confidential service.

By law, no personally identifiable information is collected as part of this service, and we take steps to ensure anonymity including handling samples under randomised codes and using code names to communicate with clients during clinics. Storage and security of personal information

Personal information we hold is securely stored and destroyed when no longer needed.

Instances where we share personal information:

In general, personal information collected by or disclosed to us via email, social media or phone, will only be shared with other Drug Foundation staff members to help us do our jobs. 

If we wish to share any specific personal information with other third parties, we will always ask your permission before doing so.

In order to provide some the services we do, such as our website, in some instances, we share generic user information with third parties. By using our website and services you consent for your data to be shared with third parties that include, but are not limited to, CRM tool providers; communication tools such as mail service providers; donation and payment systems operators; and our employees, contractors and related entities.

Other information, such as your IP address, is provided to error reporting tool providers, IT service providers, data storage, webhosting and server providers and third parties to collect and process data, such as Google Analytics. This may include parties that store data overseas.

Requests for correction or deletion of personal information

You can request correction of personal information we hold about you if it is inaccurate, such as incorrect contact information. You may also request for us to delete your information. We will respect your request unless there is a compelling reason to refuse the request.

Cookies

A 'cookie' is a small text file that can be placed on your computer, mobile or other device when browsing a website. 

We use cookies for various purposes, including website efficiency, campaign effectiveness measurement, user preference learning, referral tracking, web traffic and behaviour analysis, and session management.

We do not recognise Do Not Track signals


Some web browsers offer Do Not Track settings which can provide a signal about a preference regarding tracking technologies. Our websites do not recognise these. If you would like to block some or all of the cookies on our websites, adjust the cookie settings in your internet browser.
